After getting a little lost in Milan, we finally made it to Varenna on Lake Como. Driving into Lake Como I couldn’t believe how beautiful it was. We were driving in the this tunnel and once we came out on the other side, it was like the heavens opened up. It was so incredible!
Thanks to Erin’s travel agent secret powers, we were able to stay in a hotel on the tip of that peninsula.
Once we met up with Sarah we did a little sight seeing and then of course found a cafe to get some grub and some prosecco.
We all shared some food while sitting right at the water and it was perfect. We had some tomato bruschetta and gorgonzola pear bruschetta.
some prosecco
along with some spaghetti carbonara
After we ate and drank a bit we strolled around town before heading back to our hotel before our NYE celebrations.
There are no words for how beautiful Lake Como is!
As the sun started to set we were thinking about our NYE plans. With a lot closed for the Winter we ended up at a little pizzeria behind our hotel. There were a bunch of local B&B owners hanging out and having dinner so we decided to just join in on the party.
We all shared some great wine and pizzas.
At midnight we all went out into the courtyard and enjoyed some champagne and fireworks. with many many Buon Anno’s (Happy New Year) spoken and lots and lots of dancing, we started the new year off right with the Varenna locals.
Erin and I were headed to our last stop, Sienna, in the morning and Sarah was catching a train back to Rome, so at 2 am we called it a night. It was such a great new years, thanks to the Varenna locals for showing us such a good time.
See you tomorrow in Sienna.
Arrivederci!
